The impetus of "Lingua" was combining the idea of a "battery ribbon" with pencil and pen organization. The utility of a battery ribbon allows batteries to be removed quickly, but in this case, we need the pencils to not fly everywhere when the ribbon is pulled.

A few preliminary pouches were made experimenting with a zipper before the transition to snaps was decided.
Snaps were used instead of a zipper in order to add more personality to the case- they appear as the eyes of this tongued creature. In addition, not many zippers are made of natural materials. The snaps are made of pure brass.
